This is going to be a rather shameless plug for a movie. If any of you people ever thought that Star Wars was even a decent film, I say to you now, Go Watch Serenity. Then I ask you to repent for having wasted money on anything George Lucas has touched in the last 20 years, and then go watch Serenity again. You will NOT be disappointed.
Rather than blowing time and money on current Box Office rubbish like Flightplan, Waiting, and Two for the money, go and see a film that actually has a great story, characters worth caring about and the integrity to withstand compromise between the two.

Here is another review from Manohla Dargis of The New York Times.
This isn't just Sci-fi geekery; it's just plain good filmmaking.

Hey Mike,
I definitely will go and see this -I think you've convinced me! I hope you are both well. Did you get a gmail message off me recently? -my stupid computer here has been playing up like hell, so you may not have done.
BTW: we won't get our MA result until Nov/Dec. I heard some of our MA folk had a bit o' trouble doing the diss., and are postponing handing it in -and graduating- till the end of next years course...
cheers
Steve
I know it's not the most persuasive bit of film writing ('go and watch it'), but I have become extremely depressed watching the box office figures and how people are supporting complete crap while 'Serenity' falls from no. 2 to no. 9 by the second week. I am hoping that it will have the staying power like 'Napoleon Dynamite' and eventually gross 70+ million... But I'm a bit skeptical.
