We interrupt this blog to bring you a bit of camera geekery.

I took this photo a couple of weeks ago using a Balda Juwella, a German make medium format folder that was made in 1939 and exposes a 6x9 negative (that's a hefty sized neg if you care). It was given to me by my Grandma and was her husband's (from her first marriage, my Mom's Dad) that he picked up during WWII... I think. Or maybe it was while he was on his mission in Switzerland. Anyway, it was given to me a while back and so I've been working with it a bit lately. Amazingly, the shutter still fires at approximately what you set it at, and there aren't any major leaks in the bellows (I think there might be some minor ones though). Aside from a little fungus on the inner sides of the lens elements, it seems to work quite well for a camera that's nearly 70!
This photo was taken during the warm spell that we had a couple of weeks before Easter. Due to the nature of the camera (completely manual) and the nature of the boys (ripping like hummingbirds on crack) it was a rather amazing amount of luck that I was able to get even one shot of the boys in any semblance of focus! We'll work on exposure later.

Now back to whatever it was before the interruption.
