Heidi's Birthday at Blickling Hall

This past Sunday, Nick and Annette invited us to go and see Blickling Hall, a National Trust estate hall and gardens that dates back to 1057. The hall was absolutely awesome, and constantly reminded Heidi and I of the manor house in Gosford Park, with its upper and lower levels, servant (secret) passageways, massive dining hall and library, as well as the ornate tapestries, paintings, and woodworking that filled every available space. I wasn’t allowed to nab any pictures of the inside, so you’ll have to check out the NT site.

Following the walk through the house we wandered through the gardens. The weather started out rather ominous, but just before we were to leave the sun came out… So we had to linger a little longer and play a bit of croquet.

After all of that we went back to Nick and Annette’s and had dinner and birthday cake. Yipeee!

I love Blickling Hall. You should visit Chatsworth before you go home - Pemberley in the BBC/A&E drama Pride and Prejudice. You can make believe you are Lizzie and Darcy...

Well, yes, that is quite a good idea. In fact, quite often Heidi catches me pretending to be Lizzie, nancing about in our front room. 'Thank you, but excuse me - I am not inclined to nance.'

That is when she wishes I would pretend to be Mr. Collins instead... Now there's a hunk of Man.

Hey! I went to your home last week via a satellite's help and kind of got a view of your surroundings... Neville St., Earlham, Unthank and for a small moment I felt as though I was there. Very happy to Heidi's B/day was fun and that you are making special memories. Less than a month and you are back in the US of A!!! Until then, God bless...ant ree
