In the hood
I think he's trying for a monk or a gangster. I'm not sure how I feel about either.
Taken using redscaled 35mm film.

Saturday at the Museum

Last weekend we made a little trip to the Museum of Art because the boys have been bugging us all week long about seeing Chris Dunker's Geneva Steel photo exhibit. It turns out that it's really cool, although the thing we were most impressed by was the fact that the MOA has a Warhol in their American Dreams collection. Apparently they have several, all part of the Marilyn series, but are only showing one of them.
Then we decided to see how fast we could run through the rest of the museum. We won't make any records like the three who ran through the Louvre in under ten minutes, but we were still pretty speedy.

Tribute to Grandpa Holley
* * *
We interrupt this blog to bring you a bit of camera geekery.
* * *
I took this photo a couple of weeks ago using a Balda Juwella, a German make medium format folder that was made in 1939 and exposes a 6x9 negative (that's a hefty sized neg if you care). It was given to me by my Grandma and was her husband's (from her first marriage, my Mom's Dad) that he picked up during WWII... I think. Or maybe it was while he was on his mission in Switzerland. Anyway, it was given to me a while back and so I've been working with it a bit lately. Amazingly, the shutter still fires at approximately what you set it at, and there aren't any major leaks in the bellows (I think there might be some minor ones though). Aside from a little fungus on the inner sides of the lens elements, it seems to work quite well for a camera that's nearly 70!
This photo was taken during the warm spell that we had a couple of weeks before Easter. Due to the nature of the camera (completely manual) and the nature of the boys (ripping like hummingbirds on crack) it was a rather amazing amount of luck that I was able to get even one shot of the boys in any semblance of focus! We'll work on exposure later.

Now back to whatever it was before the interruption.

Ravenclaw!
The sorting hat says that Mike belongs in Ravenclaw!

Said Ravenclaw, "We'll teach those whose intelligence is surest."
Ravenclaw students tend to be clever, witty, intelligent, and knowledgeable.Notable residents include Cho Chang and Padma Patil (objects of Harry and Ron's affections), and Luna Lovegood (daughter of The Quibbler magazine's editor).
Gryffindor- 54%
Hufflepuff- 68%
Slytherin- 54% (Basically, I'm twice as sneaky as Heidi)
Witch house?
The sorting hat says that I belong in Hufflepuff!

Said Hufflepuff, "I'll teach the lot, and treat them just the same."
Hufflepuff students are friendly, fair-minded, modest, and hard-working. A well-known member was Cedric Diggory, who represented Hogwarts in the most recent Triwizard Tournament.
Take the most scientific Harry Potter
Quiz ever created.
The rest of my stats were 62% Gryffindor, 58% Ravenclaw, and 26% Slytherin. Mike does not believe that I am only 26% vindictive. He says I torment him way more than that. :-) Gonna get mike to take the test then we will see who torments more!!!

Marcus and the Big Snow
This past weekend we had several inches of snow dump on us. Thinking the boys would enjoy playing in it, we took them out... This photo is about as excited as they got.

Waterboys
More from our trip to ZNP this past summer. Marcus and Ian will pretty much play in any place with water... including the toilet. This photo was taken at the Middle Pool of the Emerald Pool system, which is very cool.

Goodreads
So, there's this cool website called Goodreads, where you can make lists of books that you are reading, have read, or plan to read, and then share the lists with friends. It's loads of fun and easy to use. Check it out and feel free to add us as friends. In the meantime, we've posted a widget with links in the sidebar of this blog (scroll down and you'll see it on the left) that shows what we are reading and how to find our profiles.
Viola!

Holiday: Zion National Park
This past summer we went to Zion National Park with Heidi's family. It was pretty much a blast. If you're looking for a great b&b to stay at, we highly recommend the Canyon Vista in Springdale; the rooms are nice and the hosts are wonderful and know all the good spots if you're pressed for time.
